DESCRIPTION
The hascsi program is used to collect a pre-defined set of SCSI device
information for devices attached to the local host. The collected
information is used to update a local RAP database or dumped to the
standard output if -n option is selected.
The set of information collected by hascsi is defined in an ASCII
schema file specified by the -f option and has the default value
schema/hascsi.sch. Each line in the schema file represents a single
attribute and my have one or more values associated with it.
Attributes other than resource type and version number are used to
determine the type of information to be reported by hascsi. A given
pieces of information will not be collected or reported if the associ‐
ated attribute is commented out with # or remove from the schema file.
Note that attributes resource type and version number are part of every
schema file and should not be removed or commented out. A schema file
will be rejected if an essential attributes is missing or the value
associated with the version number does not match that of hascsi.
hascsi can be used to generate a fresh schema file using the -g option.
The SCSI device information reported by hascsi is defined in the file
hascsi.sch as follows:
device type
one of disk , cd-rom , tape , or autochanger.
firmware revision level
firmware revision level reported by the device.
inquiry data
inquiry data as reported by the device.
bus
target
lun Logical Unit Number.
access path
path used to access the device via normal IO channels.
scsi address
SCSI address for the device.
number of arms
number of robotic arms in the autochanger.
number of drives
number of drives in the autochanger.
number of ports
number of import/export units in the autochanger.
number of slots
number of slots in the autochanger.
port base address
address of the first import/export unit in the autochanger.
slot base address
address of the first slot in the autochanger.
drive addresses
address of the first drive in the autochanger.
world wide number
a unique id number reported by the device.
serial number
hardware serial number reported by the device.
OPTIONS-f schema file
Specifies the full path for the schema file associated with
hascsi. When -f is not specified, the default schema file is
automatically selected. Default schema file =
ha/schema/hascsi.sch.
-L Tells hascsi that any logging information should be written to
the default application logfile - this file is named hascsi.log
, and will be located in the applogs subdirectory of your Net‐
Worker installation directory. Only one of -L or -l may be spec‐
ified - not both. If neither -L or -l is specified in the argu‐
ments to hascsi then any logging information will be printed on
stdout and stderr.
-l log file
Allows you to specify the name of the file that hascsi will
write its log to. Only one of -L or -l may be specified - not
both. If neither -L or -l is specified in the arguments to
hascsi then any logging information will be printed on stdout
and stderr.
-n Dump the collected information to the standard output; do not
update the local RAP database.
-g Generate a new schema file for hascsi after renaming the old
schema, if exists, to <name>.<date>.[1..]
-h Display a brief help message; ignore all other options.
-v Run in verbose mode.
EXAMPLES
Collect SCSI devices information and dump the result to the standard

For some devices some information may not be available on all systems,
configuration problems, hardware/software limitations. Attributes
associated with missing information are assigned the value not avail‐
able.
