Digital UNIX Diffs - getuid(5) Digital UNIX Diffs - getuid(5)NAME
getuid, geteuid - Gets the process' real or effective user ID
SYNOPSIS
#include <unistd.h> #include <sys/types.h> uid_t getuid( void ); uid_t
geteuid( void );
DIFFERENCESvms-system(5): OpenVMS Operating System Differences
These functions return the either the real user ID or the effective
user ID for a process on UNIX systems. On VMS, these functions get
mapped to the member number from the user identification code (UIC).
For example, if the OpenVMS UIC is [313,022], 022 is the member number.
OpenVMS does not have the concept of an effective user ID so it returns
the same value for both getuid and <geteuid>>.
