EXPLAINATION
The Digital UNIX sigsend system call is similar to the OpenVMS LIB$SIG‐
NAL run time library routine. The sigsend system call will send a sig‐
nal to the process ID indicated by the id (second) parameter. The list
of available signals is located in the signal(4) manual page. Sending
some signals to your process may cause the process to terminate. It is
possible to simulate a segmentation fault, a floating point exception,
or any other signal by sending the signal to your own process id.
